This page is actually shorter than the section of the Svalbard page called "History of Svalbard." So I guess it feels misleading to refer to this one there as the "main page." I'm going to suggest a merge. maxsch (talk) 04:54, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The changes made in June 2023 include the question about the first discovery of Svalbard. They are not supported by reliable (or any) sources. On the contrary, the changes made ignore the current consensus amongst historians, that Icelanders did not discover Svalbard but instead Barentsz was the first to discover it.
